چکیده
Abstract High-altitude island environments, with their characteristic strong seasonal contrast and limited resources, are challenging contexts for human subsistence. However, although archaeological in this kind of setting hold great potential to explore the diversity biological cultural adaptations, such sites rare. In paper, we present results a microcontextual geoarchaeological study carried out at Roques de García Rockshelter, highest altitude cave site Canary Islands (Spain). The was inhabited by aboriginal population has yielded rich context derived from combustion activity. We soil micromorphology characterize function lipid biomarker analysis investigate natural anthropogenic organic record. Our data indicate that groups occupied kept goats them (in rockshelter) probably used Juniperus turbinata (sabina) wood, current distant fuel source. These suggest societies Tenerife highlands regularly, taking herds firewood them. Further research is necessary use exploitation sources, seasonality these occupations differences lowland sites.

Evaluation of Acanthamoeba isolates from environmental sources in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.
Tests for potentially pathogenic amoebae were carried out in order to determine the presence of free-living amoebae of genus Acanthamoeba in soil and beach sand sources related to human environments in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. Acanthamoeba identification was based on the morphology of cyst and trophozoite forms and PCR amplification with a genus specific primer pair. The pathogenical po...

-The chemical and the mineralogical composition of a group of pumiceous tufts associated with recent salic volcanic episodes from Tenerife (Canary Islands) have been studied. The investigation focused on the two main types of pyroclastic deposits of the zone: ash-flows and ash-falls. The samples can be classified chemically as trachytic and phonolitic rocks with an intermediate silica content a...
متن کاملResults of tidal gravity observations in Tenerife, Canary Islands
c Tidal gravity observations have been carried out in Tenerife (Canary Islands) at the. base of the Teide volcano, more than two thousand meters above the sea level. The measurements have been done using a Lacoste&Romberg-G gravimeter (number 665), with electronic feedback during a period of six months. The results show, after a suitable correction of the ocean loading and attraction' effects, ...
متن کاملNatural and Acquired Soil Quality along Environmental Gradients (tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain)
Abstract Tenerife Island, has a wide environmental diversity due to its altitude (3718m at its highest point) and to the climatic differences between its windward and leeward slopes. This work studies the changes in the natural soil quality along environmental gradients on the Tenerife Island and how this natural quality is modified by man’s effect on the ecosystem. For this purpose, a total of...
